The American Association of Orthodontists recommends an initial orthodontic evaluation around age 7. This visit allows us to monitor jaw growth, bite development, and emerging teeth while determining if early treatment may be beneficial.
No. Most children do not require treatment at age 7. Early evaluations simply allow us to monitor growth and recommend treatment only when it can provide a meaningful benefit.
The Damon Ultima™ System is an advanced self-ligating braces system designed to move teeth more efficiently with less friction. Many patients enjoy a more comfortable experience and fewer adjustment appointments throughout treatment.
Spark™ Clear Aligners are custom-made, nearly invisible aligners that gradually straighten teeth without brackets or wires. They’re removable for eating, brushing, and flossing, making them a convenient option for many teens and adults.
Every smile is unique, but most orthodontic treatment is completed within 12 to 24 months. Your treatment timeline depends on your orthodontic needs and the type of treatment recommended.
Most patients experience mild soreness for a few days after braces are placed or adjusted. This temporary discomfort is a normal part of tooth movement and typically resolves quickly.
Absolutely. More adults than ever are choosing orthodontic treatment to improve their smile, bite, and long-term oral health. Both Damon Ultima Braces and Spark Clear Aligners are excellent options for adult patients.
Both treatments straighten teeth effectively. Traditional braces are often best for more complex orthodontic cases, while Spark Clear Aligners offer a removable, nearly invisible option for many mild to moderate alignment concerns.
Yes. Retainers are an important part of protecting your investment after orthodontic treatment. Wearing your retainer as recommended helps maintain your beautiful new smile.
Airway orthodontics considers the relationship between a patient’s teeth, jaws, facial growth, and airway as part of orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning. In growing children, certain dental and skeletal patterns may occur alongside concerns such as chronic mouth breathing or sleep-disordered breathing. An orthodontist can identify potential risk factors and determine whether orthodontic treatment may be appropriate. When signs of a possible sleep-related breathing disorder are present, evaluation by the appropriate medical provider may also be recommended.
Chronic mouth breathing, frequent snoring, restless sleep, and certain patterns of jaw or facial development may warrant further evaluation. These signs do not necessarily mean a child has an airway disorder, but they can provide a reason to look more closely and, when appropriate, coordinate with a pediatrician, ENT, sleep specialist, or other healthcare provider.
